Meet Taylor Watts (she/her), Graduate Student Therapist

Solution-Focused | Identity-Affirming | Empowering

A Private, Serene Therapy Experience Where You’re Safe and Honored

Starting therapy can feel like a major step, but it doesn't have to be a complicated one. My primary goal as a therapist is to create a warm, compassionate, and authentic space where you can let your guard down, process what’s on your mind, and feel genuinely heard without fear of judgment or repercussions. Therapy with me is about sitting down human-to-human, holding space for your story, and honoring who you are.

I view our work as a truly collaborative partnership. While technical concepts and books have their place, the real magic of therapy happens in applying those insights to your everyday life in a way that feels practical and empowering. Together, we will focus on your unique strengths and practical solutions so you can walk away from our sessions feeling grounded, refreshed, and equipped to take on the world.

I am particularly passionate about working with adolescents, college students, and young adults (ranging into their mid-20s) who are navigating identity exploration and the inevitable friction of life changes. Everyone moves through life at their own pace, and I am here to help you honor your individual path as you discover who you are and where you want to go.

Therapy with Taylor Watts.

Healing and Growth.

Born and raised right here in Kansas City, I grew up in South KC as the oldest of three siblings, a role that naturally made me a leader, a caregiver, and a constant conversationalist. My passion for mental health started early. As a kid, I was endlessly curious about human behavior, constantly yapping with my mom about psychology, relationships, and the intricacies of the human experience. Growing up, my life spanned two different worlds: weekdays in the suburban and rural spaces of Raymore, and weekends in the heart of the city attending church. Navigating these distinct environments gave me an early appreciation for how different contexts shape who we are.

My commitment to this work is deeply personal. I first experienced therapy myself during high school while navigating significant family and identity changes. Having a neutral, safe space to process difficult conversations taught me the power of letting my guard down. That transformative experience, along with earning my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UMKC and now pursuing my Master's at Avila University, solidified my desire to be that same grounded, supportive presence for others.

In my practice, I often channel the spirit of my late grandfather. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger and possessed a natural warmth and charisma that made everyone feel immediately welcomed and familiar. I strive to bring that same authentic, open-hearted energy into every therapy session so you feel like you belong the moment you walk through the door.

Clinical Focus & Specializations

While I tailor our work to your individual needs, I ground my clinical practice in approaches that build on who you already are and where you want to go. My goal is to create a focused, purposeful environment where technical psychological concepts are translated into practical, everyday tools.

Whether we are navigating immediate challenges or working toward long-term clarity, we will focus on achievable solutions so that the time we spend together feels genuinely useful, empowering, and actionable for your daily life.

Therapeutic Approach & Modalities

Jackson believes that therapy should be a collaborative process tailored around the unique needs and pace of the individual, rather than a rigid, one-size-fits-all framework. He prioritizes creating a warm, non-judgmental environment where clients feel empowered to drive their own growth.

To support clients in reaching their personal goals, Jackson draws from a versatile selection of evidence-based interventions and reflective frameworks. He adapts these tools based on whether a client is seeking structured behavior changes or deeper exploration of life's bigger questions.

Taylor Outside of the Therapy Room

Outside of the clinic, I stay grounded through intentional self-care and staying connected to what brings me joy:

  • Fitness & Weightlifting: I’ve been dedicated to regular strength training since 2023, using physical movement as essential maintenance for my mental and emotional health.

  • Puzzles & Legos: I love engaging my mind with complex 500+ piece jigsaw puzzles and building Lego art sets—like my Keith Haring figures.

  • Exploring KC: You can often find me out enjoying live music, discovering unique local Kansas City spots like In the Lowest Ferns, or jumping into an impromptu dance battle.

  • Skincare and Makeup: At home, YouTube on, in the mirror, unbothered: that’s how you can find me caring for my skin and creating the most beautiful works of art with my eyeshadow.
