Alexa Gambino, M.A., PLPC

Relational & Insightful

Creative & Client-led

Grounded in Compassion

Welcome, I'm so glad you're here!

Hi, I’m Alexa (she/her), M.A., PLPC, at The Liz Davis Therapy Group. I support clients navigating relational wounds, identity, faith shifts, anxiety, and wanting to feel unstuck—offering a space that honors your story and makes room for your healing. I would love to see you end therapy feeling empowered, engaged with your life, and connected to yourself and others.

Who I Work With and What We Work On.

I work best with clients who are navigating deep emotional shifts and untangling the complicated stories they’ve carried. You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin. Some of the people I work with include:

  • LGBTQIA+ community seeking a space that affirms identity, relationships, and belonging—especially when healing from rejection or internalized shame

  • People in faith transitions who are deconstructing high-control religious upbringings, processing spiritual trauma, or finding a new spiritual home

  • Neurodivergent clients who want a therapist who honors sensory needs, pacing, and nonlinear ways of thinking and feeling

  • Creatives, artists, musicians or others who relate to the world through metaphor, movement, and story—and want therapy to match that

  • Clients with anxiety, grief, and trauma who are looking for a process that honors complexity and intuition

  • Reflective, sensitive, and misunderstood people who may feel like they’re not enough, who may believe they’re too much, or may have been told they’re “too self-aware for therapy”

Examples of the Therapy Goals I Support.

In our work together, your goals are the heart of the process—and they can be as unique as you are. Whether you’re just starting therapy or returning after time away, I’m here to support you with care, flexibility, and a focus on what matters most to you.

In our work, we may explore:

  • Reconnecting with your body, intuition, and feelings of safety

  • Naming what hurt and naming what’s still possible

  • Letting go of shame, fear, or roles that no longer fit

  • Reclaiming your identity and rewriting your story

  • Building self-compassion and clarity in how you move forward

What you can expect in session.

My approach is relational, client centered, and trauma-informed. I integrate psychodynamic tradition, parts work, and EMDR techniques to support deep healing. I show up with authenticity, curiosity, and a deep respect for your inner world. I believe in messy growth, honesty, and the sacredness of becoming.

I especially enjoy working with neurodivergent clients and those navigating complex trauma. Because every healing process is unique, I tailor my pace, communication, and environment to support your needs. Whether you process through metaphor, movement, silence, or story, I’ll meet you there. You can lower your mask here.

I believe therapy is collaborative unfolding and a relational experience, not a fix-it project. You can expect warmth, honesty, and humor in our sessions, along with space to reflect, reconnect, and reimagine.

The Person. My personal background and education in counseling shapes how I understand identity, emotion, and creativity. Before becoming a therapist, I earned my B.A. in Music and had experience working in diverse professional environments. I continue to value nuance, complexity, and meaning in the work we’ll do together.

Outside of sessions, you’ll probably find me knitting, playing cozy video games, watching a comfort show for the thousandth time, or spending time with my people. Lately, I’ve been trying to learn more about gardening and plant care. When the weather is cool, I spend as much time as possible outside.

The Clinician. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University Irvine. My experience in grad school encouraged and empowered me to see the whole person of my clients, not just their “symptoms.” I am licensed to provide psychotherapy in Missouri (#2024044735) and practice under the supervision of Dr. Bridger Falkenstien, LPC. I am EDMR trained and also have significant training in sand tray therapy. Together, we can explore what works best for you.
