My’Nika Lucas
Graduate Student Therapist.
Compassionate | Community-Centered | Culturally Affirming
Hey you!
Hi, I’m My’Nika Lucas, a Graduate Student Therapist here at The Liz Davis Therapy Group. I’m currently completing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy through Friends University, and I see clients both virtually and in person in our Kansas City office.
I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, and I care deeply about supporting the emotional well-being of the community that raised me. I’m here to offer you a space where your experiences are honored, your voice matters, and your healing journey is supported every step of the way.
I see clients in person and online!
Who I Work With and What We Work On.
I have a particular passion for serving clients from underrepresented and underserved backgrounds—especially those who haven’t always seen themselves reflected in therapeutic spaces. Whether you’re working through something specific or just feeling “off,” you’re welcome here. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating:
Anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
Life transitions, identity exploration, and self-worth
Relationship conflict, disconnection, or major life changes
Family dynamics and generational healing

What you can expect in session.
My therapeutic style is warm, curious, and collaborative. I believe that when you feel safe and supported, even the hardest conversations become more possible. In session, we’ll work together to explore what’s going on beneath the surface—while always going at your pace.
You can expect me to show up authentically, and to invite you to do the same. My goal is to hold space for your growth, your questions, your messiness, and your joy—all of it belongs.
Session Fee & Sliding Scale
My standard fee is $75 per 50-minute session, whether you're coming in as an individual, couple, or family. As a Graduate Student Intern, I’m committed to making therapy accessible—and I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need.
If the full fee feels out of reach, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the office to inquire about sliding scale eligibility. You deserve support, and we’ll do our best to help make that possible.

The Person. I was born and raised in the heart of Kansas City, and that deep-rooted connection to my community continues to guide and inspire my work. I’ve always felt a calling to help others heal—and that calling has only grown stronger through my lived experience, community involvement, and training as a therapist. Outside of the therapy room, I love to cook, take solo trips, shop, binge-watch my favorite shows, and spend quality time with my family and my dog, Cookie. I’ve also spent years engaging in mental health advocacy through local organizations, which has allowed me to witness both the challenges and the resilience within our city. These experiences shaped my desire to provide compassionate, culturally attuned care to the people who make up the fabric of Kansas City.
The Clinician. As a student therapist, I bring a deep commitment to creating a therapeutic space where you feel seen, safe, and supported. I believe that healing begins with a strong therapeutic relationship—one built on trust, connection, and genuine care. My role is to walk alongside you, helping to explore the hard things while always honoring your pace and process. Whether you're navigating anxiety, identity questions, relationship struggles, or emotional overwhelm, I aim to hold space for your full experience. With support from experienced supervisors and ongoing clinical training, I am equipped to meet a wide variety of concerns with curiosity, humility, and care.
The Approach. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, relational, and rooted in systemic thinking. I pay close attention to how your environment, relationships, and lived experiences shape who you are and how you show up in the world. I believe therapy is not about “fixing” you—it’s about supporting you as you uncover insight, connect with your values, and learn new ways of relating to yourself and others. In our work together, I will show up as my authentic self so that you feel safe doing the same. Together, we’ll explore your story with curiosity and compassion, making space for both the challenges you’re facing and the strength you already carry.
